St. Nicholas Ministries, Inc., with our principal office located in Malden, Massachusetts, has been incorporated within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Religious (Chapter 180) entity since November 24, 1998. In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts we are tax exempt with our most recent certificate (Form ST-2) set to expire August 14, 2027.
According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), “Churches, integrated auxiliaries, or conventions or associations of churches that meet the qualifications for exemption are automatically considered tax exempt under IRC Section 501 (c) (3) and may choose not to apply for formal recognition of such status.” As a small church, with limited budget, and given that we are recognized as tax exempt by the Commonwealth, we opted not to pay the additional fees associated with filing for “formal recognition” by the IRS.
