Saint Nicholas of Myra
About us ...
Saint Nicholas Ministries, Inc. [AKA Saint Nicholas Mission] is slowly emerging from our more lengthy than we ever imagined hiatus. Please visit this site often for more information and developments. Our current plan to is to be back to near full operation during September 2023.
An Intentional Eucharistic Community
As Saint Nicholas Ministries emerges from our lengthy hiatus, we are reimagining ourselves in part as an Intentional Eucharistic Community, possibly meeting once or twice a month for Eucharist. This will be under the title Saint Nicholas Mission [see our "Renewed Ministries" pages].
Intentional Eucharistic Communities (IECs) are those small faith communities, rooted in the Catholic tradition, which gather to celebrate Eucharist on a regular basis. Born in the enthusiasm flowing from Vatican II for a church of the people, some IECs were instituted in parishes, some were created as alternatives to the parish, some retain close ties with the institutional church, and some function independently. All are characterized by shared responsibility for the governance and life of the community. Through sharing liturgical life and mutual support for one another, members are strengthened to live Gospel-centered lives dedicated to spiritual growth and social commitment. [from the Intentional Eucharistic Communities Facebook page]
As an IEC, Saint Nicholas Ministries relieves itself of the burden of trying to offer all the ministries that a typical parish would be expected to offer. Rather, it is our hope to contract rented space and gather periodically for celebrations of Holy Eucharist, Services of Anointing for Healing, and Memorial Services/Celebrations of Life. More information will be posted as we continue on this journey.
Religious Education and Spiritual Formation
As Saint Nicholas Ministries emerges from our lengthy hiatus, we are also reimagining our Religious Education and Spiritual Formation components as online offerings [we learned a lot during the pandemic]. These will be under the title "The Upper Zoom" [see our "Renewed Ministries" pages].
Prayer Society of Saint Florian
The Prayer Society of Saint Florian [AKA Saint Florian Ministries], which continued to operate during our hiatus, will continue with but minor tweaking. We are hoping to reassign the coordination of this ministry thinking new blood might lead to a new approach. More on this later ...
The Eldad and Medad Project
Finally, Father David's brain child, The Eldad and Medad Project, will continue to be tweaked and interested parties will be interviewed, recruited, and otherwise added to what we hope will be a fruitful outreach to those folks we are most called to serve.
